Mary Lucier

Mary Lucier was born in 1944 in Ohio. She earned a BA from Brandeis University and has taught at Harvard University, NYU, San Francisco Art Institute, School of Visual Arts, SUNY Purchase, Cleveland Institute of Art and Minnesota College of Art and Design. Lucier was the recipient of many public and private grants and awards, from institutions including Creative Capital, the Rockefeller Foundation, the Guggenheim Foundation, the American Film Institute, the Jerome Foundation, the NEA, New York State Council on the Arts, Anonymous Was a Woman, United States Artists Fellow Award and the Nancy Graves Foundation. Her exhibitions include shows at Amon Carter Museum, TX; Huntington Museum of Art, WV; Lennon, Weinberg, Inc., NY; Museo Nacional Reina Sofia, Madrid; University of Michigan Art Museum; Museum of Modern Art, NY; Creative Time, Times Square, NY; Whitney Museum of Art, NY; Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles; Toledo Museum of Art, Ohio; Portland Museum of Art, Oregon; and San Francisco Museum of Art, California. Lucier is represented by Lennon, Weinberg, Inc., in New York, where she lives and works.
