Broersen & Lukács
Margit Lukács (born 1973) and Persijn Broersen (born 1974) have been working together as an artist duo since 2002; currently, they are based in Paris. They studied at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy and at the Sandberg Institute in Amsterdam, where they received their master’s degrees. In 2007–2008 they were residents at the Rijksakademie in Amsterdam. They work in a wide variety of media—most notably, video, animation and graphics—producing a myriad of works that reflect on the ornamental nature of today’s society. With layers of depersonalization and re-mediation, they demonstrate how reality, (mass) media and fiction are strongly intertwined in contemporary culture. They‘ve worked with advertising agencies like W+K and EuroRSCG, and have created a number of music videos. Their work is shown in film festivals, museums and galleries, and is broadcast on TV worldwide. Recent exhibitions/screenings include: Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam/IFFR, Rotterdam/MUHKA Antwerp/LAForum, Los Angeles/Experimenta Media Arts Biennial, Australia, and more. Broersen & Lukács are represented by Akinci, Amsterdam.
